BlackRock has appointed Sarah Melvin to the newly created role of head of the UK.
Based in London, Melvin will be responsible for the UK retail and UK institutional client business and will partner with EII, Cash, BRS and Aladdin Wealth to deliver the full suite of BlackRock products and services to UK clients.
Melvin has worked for BlackRock for 13 years, most recently as head of the institutional client business for the US and Canada.
As part of a reshuffle, Supurna VedBrat will become head of global trading, overseeing trading, transition management (TRIM) and capital markets. Justine Anderson will continue to lead TRIM.
Ben Spielman and Ed Cook continue as co-heads of capital markets while Phil Vasan will now serve as head of global lending and liquidity, which includes cash, led by Tom Callahan, and securities lending, led by Roland Villacorta.
In addition, Richie Prager, managing director, head of global trading is to retire from his role on 1 July.
In a statement, BlackRock said: 鈥淩ichie Prager helped us re-architect trading, capital markets, cash and other functions as industry, regulatory and technology conditions evolved.鈥
It added: 鈥淗e has been key to establishing and managing relationships with major partners. He also has been a mentor and culture carrier for many. Now, after a distinguished career of nearly 38 years, he has decided to retire while facilitating a transition to the next generation of leadership that he developed.鈥
