The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has welcomed Certizen Technology to the verifiable Legal Entity Identifier (vLEI) ecosystem as a qualified vLEI issuer (QVI).

Designed to be a secure digital counterpart of the LEI, the vLEI represents a standardised form of digital organisational identity.

Certizen Technology, a Hong Kong-based provider of digital identity and digital certificate solutions, will use vLEI to foster global interoperability and regional integration within the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

This area encompasses southern Chinese cities including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

According to the GLEIF, the GBA links three distinct legal, economic, and customs systems, and is the 鈥済ateway鈥 in and out of the Chinese market. Therefore, trusted and efficient data exchanges 鈥渞emain essential to its ongoing development鈥.

By engaging with local partners, Certizen Technology will drive new vLEI use cases and deliver the benefits of digital organisational identity in the education, healthcare, blockchain, ESG, and regulatory sectors.

GLEIF says its solution enables remote and efficient authentication processes, allowing users to overcome discrepancies between distinct legal frameworks, fostering trust in cross-border data flows.

Commenting on the growth of the enabling vLEI infrastructure, Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLEIF, says: 鈥淲ith the increasing adoption of the LEI across Asia, our expanding global network of QVIs will deliver additional benefits to LEI-holding organisations.

鈥淐ertizen Technology鈥檚 qualification represents another significant milestone in the development of the vLEI ecosystem, which provides an open, commercially neutral, and future-proof framework for establishing global digital trust.鈥

Eva Chan, CEO of Certizen Technology, comments: 鈥淗eadquartered in Hong Kong, one of the key financial centres, our organisation is strongly committed to promoting economic growth both in the Greater Bay Area and globally.

鈥淏y combining our extensive experience in digital certificates with cutting-edge innovations such as the vLEI, we aim to establish a new digital trust ecosystem that facilitates effective, real-time cross-border data authentication, thereby supporting deeper regional integration.鈥

Certizen Technology joined the Global LEI System as a validation agent in March 2024 and remains an active member of the GLEIF Certification Authority Stakeholder Group.
