Northern Trust has appointed Dane Fannin as global head of securities lending, effective 1 January.
In his new role, Fannin will relocate from Hong Kong to Chicago, having most recently served as head of capital markets for Asia Pacific (APAC).
Fannin will report to Michael Vardas, global head of Northern Trust capital markets, and he will work closely with Andy Clayton, head of capital markets for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Mark Snowdon will take Fannin鈥檚 place in an expanded role as head of capital markets for APAC.
Snowdon was most recently responsible for Northern Trust鈥檚 regional securities lending sales and relationship management, based in Singapore.
He joined Northern Trust in 2010 and prior to his current role, Snowdon spent five years in Northern Trust鈥檚 London Office.
Commenting on the new appointments, Vardas said: 鈥淪ecurities lending has a critical role to play in optimising performance for asset managers, and asset owners, across their investment programmes.鈥
鈥淚n today鈥檚 increasingly complex and uncertain investment environment, forward-thinking firms are able to do this whilst operating within client-specific guidelines and risk management parameters.鈥
鈥淒ane Fannin, through his global experience, will lead the development, expansion and innovation of Northern Trust鈥檚 securities lending capabilities for our global clients.鈥
William Mak, head of Northern Trust in APAC, added: 鈥淭he Asia-Pacific region is an important area of growth for Northern Trust. As markets in the region continue to seek innovative Capital Markets products, we see significant opportunity to bring our customizable capabilities to the region.鈥
鈥淢ark Snowdon, through his experience and understanding of our client needs is well-placed for this leadership role.鈥
