Deutsche B枚rse appoint Leithner as new CEO

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche B枚rse has appointed Stephan Leithner as the company's new CEO.
He will begin his new position on 1 October and initially lead Deutsche B枚rse as a co-CEO together with Theodor Weimer until the end of the year.
Leithner has been a member of the executive board of Deutsche B枚rse AG since 2018, where he was responsible for pre and post-trading.
His current areas of responsibility include the investment management solutions segment with ISS STOXX and SimCorp as well as the Group鈥檚 post-trading business with Clearstream.
Previously, Leithner was with Deutsche Bank AG from 2000 to 2015. Initially he was responsible for building up the capital markets and M&A business, and in 2012 he became a member of the executive board.
Before joining Deutsche Bank, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company.
Leithner comments: 鈥淚n recent years, we have successfully developed the business model and demonstrated the potential of this company. The challenge now is to further realise this potential across the Group to shape the markets of the future.鈥
Martin Jetter, chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche B枚rse AG, adds: 鈥淚n recent years, Stephan has played a significant role in the strategic development of the company.
